Real-world learning

Connect what you learn to what you can make.

Our ambition is to connect technology education with practical projects, industry insight and opportunities to apply knowledge in real settings.

Help make these opportunities possible →

A journey from foundations to application.

  1. Learn

Build computer confidence, digital skills, computational thinking and responsible AI habits.

  2. Build

Explore visual coding, boards and sensors through guided MakerOS projects.

  3. Explore

Connect concepts with demonstrations, practitioner conversations and industry examples.

  4. Apply

Develop an age-appropriate project, test an idea and explain what you learned.

Our connections in China

Global connections. African opportunity.

The Academy has strong ties in China. We want to use these relationships to help African learners encounter the people, tools and processes behind the technology they study.

With partners, we can explore equipment access, technical knowledge exchange, industry demonstrations and suitable exposure opportunities.

Visits and exchanges would be arranged as specific programmes, with availability, costs, supervision and participation requirements agreed in advance.

The founder’s commercial ventures

See how ideas become working solutions.

Siphiwe Mabusela’s wider ventures are already operating commercially. They offer a connection between learning and the practical challenges businesses work to solve.

We aim to create opportunities for learners to apply their knowledge through supervised educational projects connected to these ventures.

What an experience could involve

  • A practitioner explains the problem a technology solves.
  • Learners explore a suitable demonstration or project brief.
  • They build and test a model using fictional or non-sensitive information.
  • They present their work and reflect on feedback.

Illustrative activities to plan with schools and partners; participation depends on the programme and available opportunities.

Designed around learners

Purposeful, supported participation.

Projects should fit learners’ age, readiness and learning goals. Schools, families and participating organisations agree supervision, permissions and practical arrangements before an experience begins.

These are educational opportunities. Placements, travel and employment are not automatic outcomes of enrolling.
